How to Reach Sasaram ?

The bus communication of the city with the rest of the nearby cities is excellent. Frequent buses are available for the State Capital Patna. The city has road connections with the National Capital New Delhi and nearest metro city Kolkata as well. 
As far as the Indian Railway Network is concerned, Sasaram is again on one of the most special routes of India. It comes under the New Delhi to Howrah Railway Network. Many of the express trains take a stop at the Sasaram Railway Station. There is a separate railway connection to Patna as well from Sasaram. The city is also connected to other nearby important cities like Gaya, Varanasi, Dhanbad through the Indian Railway Network. Even though the city does not have own airport but nearby airports can be accessed to reach to the city. All the airports are within the range of 200 Km from Sasaram and it takes little over 5 hours on average to reach the historical city of Sasaram.

The name of the fort was given on the name of his son Rohiteshwa. However, the fort became an integral part of all the dynasties which ruled Sasaram. It was also administered by Sher Shah and later Man Singh ruled as a governor of Bengal, Bihar and Orissa under the regime of Mughal Emperor Akbar. The fort consists of many amazing architectural wonders. Apart from having ancient temples, mosques and also fountains it has the Deewan-E-Aam and Deewan-E-Khas. Maa Tara Chandi Temple is one of the most ancient and famous temples of India. One of the “Maha Shakti Peeth”, Maa Tara Chandi Temple is the temple of Durga. It is believed that the ‘Netra’ or ‘Eye’ of Maa Sati fall her during her self-immolation. Sitting on the hilltop, Maa Tara Chandi Temple also has beautiful natural attraction apart from having divine and pure environment. ChandanSaheed is the mosque or tomb situated near to the Maa Tara Chandi Temple. The tomb was believed to be built by the Mughal Emperor Jahangir and it serves as one of the most interesting places in Sasaram. Ashokan inscription is also found atop of Chandan Saheed and clearly suggests the existence of the civilization during the Mauryan times.
Gupta Mahadev Temple is another temple which is believed to be very old and also mythologically very important. It is situated on the Kaimur Hills of Sasaram. The temple is situated inside an ancient cave. It is believed that Bhasmasura was killed by Lord Vishnu while he chased Lord Shiva to experiment his blessings. The ancient cave is a limestone cave and also excites the nature lover for its beauty and appeal. However, alongside Gupta Mahadev or Maheshwar Temple, there are many other temples such as Paravati Temple also present at the hill. Other ancient caves of limestone can be seen at the hills which are religious and also beautiful creation of the Nature.
