Gupta Mahadev Temple is another temple which is believed to be very old and also mythologically very important. It is situated on the Kaimur Hills of Sasaram. The temple is situated inside an ancient cave. It is believed that Bhasmasura was killed by Lord Vishnu while he chased Lord Shiva to experiment his blessings. The ancient cave is a limestone cave and also excites the nature lover for its beauty and appeal. However, alongside Gupta Mahadev or Maheshwar Temple, there are many other temples such as Paravati Temple also present at the hill.
